Alert Number 114
Date: August 1, 2024
Dr. Terry Hamblin needs no introduction to the CLL patient community. In his article Are We There Yet?, written exclusively for our readers, Dr. Hamblin discussed the risks and rewards of the therapy choices available to us today. That question brings up another question, “Where are we?”
A group of experts under the leadership of Dr. Marco Montillo has done an excellent job of answering this second question. Their article provides a much needed recap of where things stand, giving us a bird’s eye view of the state of the technology in a clear and readable fashion. It is also a must-read article for your local oncologist, if he has not done so already. You might want to make sure, out of sheer self interest. An oncologist who is up the curve is likely to give you better service. Ignorance is not bliss for any of us, it becomes downright lethal when we are talking about oncologists!
You can read our review of this important paper in Risk Adapted Strategies. If our review grabs your attention, write to us and we will be happy to help you locate the full text of the Montillo article. You can make a present of it to your oncologist at your next appointment.
Be well,
Chaya
