Cord Blood Transplants: The State of the Art

    Date: August 10, 2024

As you can imagine, I have been doing my due diligence and learning all about cord blood transplants for CLL patients. My favorite hypothetical patient's plans (see Harvey's Battle Plans) depend on the availability of this technology. I would like to share with you the results of my research. It is quickly becoming clear to me that many more patients will be looking at this technology than I imagined. A lot has been learned in the past few years and the technology has come up the learning curve rapidly. Please read our latest article, Cord Blood Transplants: The State of the Art, to get yourself up to speed on this important development.

Down the road, I am willing to bet stem cells from umbilical cord blood will be all the rage for transplants, overtaking stem cells from adult donors. These baby stem cells have lots of advantages and researchers are finding ways around the disadvantages. Stay tuned: some day your life may be saved because of a new-born baby’s umbilical cord.

    Be well,

    Chaya
